After Harry has lived a horrible life with his abusive relatives, he discovers a whole new world where he meets others of his kind: wizards and witches. He makes friends and forms relationships with both peers and adults.
Since Harry is surrounded by people who actually care about him in the wizarding world, he receives sympathy from them in different forms. They include both happy and sad moments.
Below are my top picks for the most beautiful, heartwarming scenes. Note that this will only include moments that involve Harry.
When Ginny comforts Harry when he and everyone else are near Dumbledore’s dead body (The Half-Blood Prince movie)
As far as I recall, this didn’t happen in the book. Despite how Ginny is very one-dimensional in the films and doesn’t get a lot of screentime, this scene makes her very lovable.
She just became Harry’s girlfriend. So, she’d do anything she could to help him or make him feel good.
And Dumbledore’s death devastated him as well as everybody else. Not only was he the headmaster of Hogwarts, but also a mentor and even fatherly figure to Harry. And Harry had already lost his actual father and his godfather, Sirius.
And what makes this moment even more beautiful is how Ginny actually ran up to Harry as he wept near Dumbledore’s body. No one else did. I don’t know if Ron or Hermione would have done the same thing.
When Mrs. Weasley hugs Harry when in the hospital wing, and Harry gets emotional since this is his first time having a motherly hug (The Goblet of Fire book)
After Harry returns from the graveyard where he encountered Voldemort and watched Cedric die, he is traumatized by all this. Not only that, but he also has some wounds.
He is taken to the hospital wing, where he is given a potion to have a dreamless sleep. At some point, Mrs. Weasley gives him a hug. He becomes tearful and won’t let go of her, probably because this is his first time having a motherly hug.
Someone providing Harry with the love he never got, especially with an embrace, makes this scene beautiful.
When Harry and Sirius hug when they meet again after the order’s meeting ends (The Order of the Phoenix movie)
After being taken to Grimmauld Place which is the Black family home and the headquarters for the order, Harry sees the meeting briefly as they discuss him. Sirius is one of the members talking about him. He and a few other members look up at him as he wears a faint smile on his face, maybe mentally greeting them.
Mrs. Weasley greets him and kindly tells him to go upstairs, where he joins the other kids.
Once the meeting is over, it’s dinnertime. After Fred, George, and Ginny go into that room, Mr. Weasley greets Harry, and then Sirius makes his way to greet him–with a hug.
Despite how he hasn’t seen Sirius in a long time in the movie adaptations (which technically shouldn’t count since they’re not really canon), the two are already like father and son. The book’s portrayal of this scene differs a lot, though.
There, Walburga, Sirius’s mother, yells insensitive remarks about those who aren’t purebloods, and he tells her to be quiet. Then he says to Harry, “See you’ve met my mother.”
Yes, a lot of the scenes in the movies are depicted better in the novels. But this one is a major exception in my opinion. It also adds depth to Sirius and Harry’s relationship that makes it like a parent-child or friend-friend relationship.
When Harry worries that he is going bad and Sirius comforts him (The Order of the Phoenix movie)
This is another scene that was portrayed differently in the book. There, Sirius just tells him to go to bed.
However, in the movie, he comforts Harry by telling him that he’s not a bad person, but a good one.
After pointing out how people can choose either lightness or darkness to act on, he concludes that when these tough times are over, he and Harry will be a proper family. And the most beautiful and emotional part is when they hug goodbye since Harry has to go.
I almost cry watching this, especially when Harry and Sirius hug each other.
When Hagrid gives Harry the photo album at the end of the school year (The Sorcerer’s Stone book and movie)
In the book, he gives Harry the photo album while he’s staying in the hospital wing. It just mentions people he met waving at him.
In the movie, Hagrid gives him the album right before he boards the train home. He opens it and sees him as a baby with his parents. He then thanks Hagrid, shakes his hand, and hugs him.
Once again, this is another moment that I liked more in the film. I think it shows how Hagrid cares about Harry and how much he wished that he had a loving family.
Conclusion
Because Harry grew up without being loved or cared for like a son, every heartwarming moment, such as the ones listed, probably meant a lot to him–possibly more than others who lived with loving families,
